The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified in Wuhan, China. This is a new disease that has not previously been seen in humans. There is no specific treatment or vaccine for COVID-19 currently, but there are clinical studies being conducted and drugs and vaccines are being developed.
The virus that causes COVID-19 may have emerged from an animal source but is currently spreading between people who are in close contact with one another (within 6 feet) through respiratory droplets, such as saliva and discharge from the nose, from coughing and sneezing.
